NYC Food Guy’s 1st Post: MY LAST MEAL

Date November 1, 2007

This is the start of the most delicious and glorious culinary journey the internet has ever seen.

My goal here is simple: Guide the masses to delicious and affordable food.I live in New York but will not be limited to it. I have roots in Queens and Long Island and fully plan on giving both locales their culinary props.

Like a heaping plate of nachos or cheese fries, let’s delve right in with a philosophical debate for the ages: YOUR LAST MEAL. What’s on the plate? Surprise me.

In the spirit of sharing, here’s a little taste of mine:

When Donovan’s Pub was still a Pub in Bayside, Queens not a “Grill & Tavern”, this bacon cheeseburger with fried onions was my top burger:

Baby Back Ribs from Georgia’s Eastside BBQ

Sundays are All You Can Eat Ribs there, check out my review for more info.

Warm 5-nut Brownie Sundae From Houstons

Served with Sedutto Vanilla Ice Cream and Champagne Custard (the most expensive thing at Houston’s believe it or not). Check out that close up, that’s serious.

So that’s just a little taste of my last meal. As time progresses I’ll get more photos and add some more glory to the plate.

Let’s hear from you.

Happy Eating,

Hey, Food Guy! Poring through the archives, and it looks like we’re celebrating your First Anniversary on the Web! Was November ’07 was the birth of the NYCFG era? If so, CONGRATULATIONS on a noble project that ensures your immortality in the hearts and stomachs of the not-too-fussy, and definitely not-too-wealthy but food-obsessed in the NYC area.

And I haven’t forgotten about Ben’s Best. Game on!

    Doc,

Thanks a lot man. I don’t think anyone else realized, I knew myself but I didn’t realize the exact day. Thanks for being here and constantly contributing worthwhile food dialogue.

I’m off Fridays and Saturday’s these days and also free before 5pm every week day. You tell me when we’re doing Ben’s Best and I’m ready.

Joannes is great. Their buffalo chicken pizza and bbq chicken pizza are awesome. The key is getting a pie, half buffalo, half bbq. Delicious.
