Paradis-To-Go (pronounced Para-dee), on 4th Avenue and 12th street, is next in the battle to usurp Levain’s crown as the best chocolate chip cookie in NYC.

Like Levain Its chewy dough was filled with melty semi-sweet chocolate chips and surrounded by a slightly crisp outer crust.

And unlike Jacques Torres, Paradis’ cookie was had height and heft. Unfortunately, the overall flavor was pretty generic. More standard bakery than Levain’s just like mom’s.

At $2.00, it’s cheaper than Levain ($3.75) and Jacque Torres ($2.50), but real eaters know price doesn’t matter when it comes to delicious baked goods.

Paradis’ will do if I’m looking to satisfy a chocolate chip cookie craving in the East Village but it’s a distant third place after Levain and Jacques Torres.

The search definitely continues, if you know any great cookies in the East Village email me at lawrence@nycfoodguy.com

Paradis also serves pastries, egg sandwiches around breakfast time, oatmeal, yogurt, granola, grilled sandwiches, and salads, all of which looked pretty generic and healthy, which as a result prevented me from trying them because after all, I’m NYCFoodGuy and there’s only one $4.69 salad on this entire site.
