Steve, One man's sauce is another man's swill. Judge it as you want, it was tender, savory, and delicious to us. We also liked the sides of fries, baked potato and cornbread. The roll under the heaping portion of briskit was superfluous and left untouched. From my meager knowledge of BBQ, it varies greatly in style from region to region. Dallas Bar-B-Q doesn't need shills. From what i observed, they need a fourth dining level. The place appears to be a bbq gold mine, all 3 levels packed with lines out the door at 6:30 PMwhen we left. The place was already pretty filled when we arrived a bit after 5. I also liked the crowd. NYC at its best. No phonies in view. Just a lot of people gobbling up what they thought was BBQ.

Geez! you finally found a way to make me wish I was in Miami Beach. Last night after the matinee at American Airlines Theatre, my wife and I who are not barbecue fanatics ventured into the huge 3-level Dallas Bar-B-Q on 42nd St for the first time and shared plates of baby back ribs and briskit of beef, both delicious with top honors to the melt-in-your-mouth ribs that fell off the bone. The briskit was not quite as tender but still very very good. Avoid the frozen flavored apple martinis which tasted artificial. Beer is a better choice. When we left at 6:30 PM, I could not believe the lines of people waiting for a table at this value-packed restaurant (delicious food, huge portions, reasonable prices).
