Paradis To Go Chocolate Chip Cookie: Better than Levain?
June 3, 2008
Paradis-To-Go (pronounced Para-dee), on 4th Avenue and 12th street, is next in the battle to usurp Levain’s crown as the best chocolate chip cookie in NYC.
- Like Levain Its chewy dough was filled with melty semi-sweet chocolate chips and surrounded by a slightly crisp outer crust.
- And unlike Jacques Torres, Paradis’ cookie was had height and heft. Unfortunately, the overall flavor was pretty generic. More standard bakery than Levain’s just like mom’s.
- At $2.00, it’s cheaper than Levain ($3.75) and Jacque Torres ($2.50), but real eaters know price doesn’t matter when it comes to delicious baked goods.
- Paradis’ will do if I’m looking to satisfy a chocolate chip cookie craving in the East Village but it’s a distant third place after Levain and Jacques Torres.
The search definitely continues, if you know any great cookies in the East Village email me at [email protected]
Paradis also serves pastries, egg sandwiches around breakfast time, oatmeal, yogurt, granola, grilled sandwiches, and salads, all of which looked pretty generic and healthy, which as a result prevented me from trying them because after all, I’m NYCFoodGuy and there’s only one $4.69 salad on this entire site.
