Bill,
That's a little odd about the no cheese. There's definitely parm on the Grandma Slice but there also has to be cheese. If you saw no cheese you were probably looking at the similarly shaped marinara slice.

I didn't see any cheese on the Sicilian (at least no slice of cheese). I think it was just parmesean and/or romano sprinkled on much like the tomato sheet pies I'd eat from the local bakery as a kid.

Bill,

I have to apologize for the lack of pizzaz with the Grandma Slice. Since I praised it a few months back, its been pretty inconsistent. Sometimes its too thin, other times its under cooked. Either way, when it's on, it's on. I'd just make sure to ask for it well done. As for the Sicilian slice, I can only eat that when its fresh, otherwise you end up with that little slice of cheese trying to cover the top of a huge slide. The sauce is good on the Sicilian though, I totally agree. Im starting to think their best slice is just their plain slice and maybe the margarita.

NYCFG,

Good call on the Bella Napoli!! I went there as I worked the 2nd shift in midtown tonight. I wasn't a huge fan of the Grandma slice. It was okay, but seemed a bit salty to me. I also picked up a Sicilian slice and absolutely loved it. Sweet sauce and a nice sprinkling of cheese. Chewy and crispy at the same time. And they sell Stewart's Sodas (root beer and cream soda).

Another pizza place,

I've read about Bella Vita but I regrettably have not tried it yet. I'm hot on the trail. Do they do slices or just pies? Any other favorite pizza spots in Manhattan or the neighboring boroughs?

Have you ever had Bella Vita on 59th St.? I think their slice might be better than Bella Napoli's. I got a brick oven fresh mozz pie from there once that was amazing.
