Represent for Piper's Kilt man. Ive heard all about it and definitely plan on making a trip one of these days. I feel your pain on the Five Guys but I still give it love and respect.

Thanks for the feedback.

Food guy, I tried 5 Guys about a month and a half ago. While it soars above most chains, I, like others, need the blood dripping down the arm on some medium rareness. I got cheese and mushrooms on mine and it was good, not great. Personally, I prefer Good Burger on 43rd and 2nd. I haven't had a Corner Bistro burger in years, but recall an on point burger.

Not sure if you're up on Piper's Kilt on 231st in the Bronx off the 1 train, but I highly recommend a trip up north and then a review.

Keep doing your thing.

Liz,

That's a regular burger (2 patties, a little comes with just 1) from Five Guys.

The picture is from A Hamburger Today.com's Adam Kuban.

As you can see above, there's some controversy about Five Guys only cooking their burgers well done. My favorite burger in NYC which is as affordable as Five Guys but cooked to order is at the Burger Joint in Le Parker Meridien Hotel.

Thanks for the question Liz, feel free to ask more.

Food For Thought-

You're crazy. I like Five Guys because you can add as much bacon and cheese and other toppings as you want for minimal cost. Anywhere else, however, I'm not going well done.

I second the motion on burnt toast however, we've all left bread in there for too long and discovered some charred remains. Always disappointing.

Thanks for the comment.

Garlic and Gaelic,

I couldn't agree more. Burger Joint is the pinnacle of Burgers in Manhattan. It's hands down my top spot. You said it best when you said a burger's meant to be eaten medium or medium rare. I second that motion and add that a burger is also meant to be cooked over fire, another thing Burger Joint does that Five Guys does not.

The tourist trap part doesn't phase me, it's survival of the fittest at Burger Joint. The milkshakes are solid but after two burgers and an order of fries, milkshake is a death wish for food coma. I'd sooner go with a Sam Adams.

Thanks for the comment maybe I'll see you at the Joint.

Food guy:

I have had both five guys and Burger Joint burgers and I think Burger Joint burgers are better. A hamburger, since its inception, was meant to be eaten medium or medium rare. It tastes differently than a well done burger.

With that said, it may not be fair to compare a med. rare burger joint burger with a well done five guys burger, but burger join burger was certainly more juicy. Their fries are great too and their milkshakes are underrated. While I admit, the place has become a bit of a tourist trap, they continue to produce excellent hamburgers.

Mr or Mrs Hater...

I have a feeling you've had a Fast Food Burger in your life, especially if you took the time to come on this site and bash Five Guys. So if my first assumption is correct, and you have in fact eaten a McDonalds Burger or a Burger King burger, then you are just a hypocrite and an idiot because you've not only eaten well done burgers before, youve eaten low quality disgusting well done burgers and you enjoyed them.

To say you'd rather eat an old sneaker than a well done burger means we better never see you eating fast food burgers again. Five Guys not only craps on every fast food burger its actually made with high quality ingredients and it tastes delicious and you get a meal for the same price as a value meal at McDonalds.

I appreciate the comments on this site but never have I read anything so blatanly off-base and ridiculous.

You can't say another word until you eat a Five Guys Burger.

Good Day

the fact that five guys ONLY cooks its burgers well-done is an absolute farce, not to mention a complete travesty for anyone who knows anything about meat.

if you're really going to compare ANY well-done burger to an awesome, juicy, bloody burger, your taste buds must be completely destroyed.

i'd rather eat my old sneaker than a well-done burger, and can safely say i'll never eat a five guys burger
